Celebrity tradie hunk Adam Dovile reveals his gruelling training regime for Dancing With The Stars – and what it was like working with AFL bad boy Ben Cousins

Better Homes and Gardens hunk Adam Dovile revealed on Friday the grueling workout regimen he put himself through leading up to his Dancing With The Stars appearance.

The 40-year-old celebrity professional told Ny Breaking Australia that a combination of a healthy diet, limited alcohol and intense physical training helped him get into top shape.

“I’m not going to lie, it was really tough, I was definitely out of my comfort zone. I took two cold showers a day for the eight weeks of training,” he began.

He added that his career as a builder had prepared him somewhat for the physical challenges of the show, as he was used to being on his feet all day.

“I’m a pretty active guy with all my buildings, so when I started I didn’t want to change too much about my life outside of it. So I just stuck to what I normally do.”

“I made sure I was averaging about 20,000 steps a day. And I don’t eat junk food and I only drink water, except for a few Sherbets at the end of the day.”

Adam said he was particularly impressed with AFL legend Ben Cousins’ performance on the show, and how the reformed villain had managed to turn his life around.

“He’s a champion of a guy. He gave it his all, he was the only one of us who kept dancing after we were done,” Adam said.

“What people need to understand is that we’re all human. You don’t want anyone to fall into bad patterns, but the best thing is that people can be rehabilitated.

“I think we should celebrate the fact that the guy has been rehabilitated, and look at him, he’s fit and healthy! You can’t focus on his past. We should celebrate his success in coming out fit and healthy.”

Adam added that he would be attending the Logies ceremony in Sydney in August this year and named his favourite for the Gold Logie winner.

‘I like to work together with [DWTS co-host] Sonia Kruger, so I’ll give her a pat on the back. She’s a beautiful woman, I support her.

‘Better Homes has also been nominated for the award for most popular lifestyle programme, but it has never won since I have been on it, so I hope we can change that!’

Adam appears alongside a host of A-list celebrities on the latest series of DWTS, including Ben Cousins, MasterChef star Julie Goodwin, Home and Away star James Stewart and Lisa McCune.

Dancing With The Stars airs Sunday at 7pm on Channel Seven and 7Plus.
