Chloe Burrows and Danielle Harold are the five new celebrities competing in the Celebrity MasterChef arena for a spot in the quarter-finals.

The BBC cookery show launched its first three episodes on Tuesday, starring Charlotte Crosby, Craig Doyle, Edith Bowman, Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Snoochie Shy. One episode has already been dismissed.

The BBC has now revealed that reality star Chloe, 28, and EastEnders star Danielle, 32, will take part in the second heat.

The women are joined by comedienne and actor Eshaan Akbar, BBC Gladiator and Team GB Sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Line Of Duty star Rochenda Sandall.

When asked why she signed up for MasterChef, Love Island star Chloe said: ‘My mum always loved MasterChef so I always watched it growing up.

‘I’m into cooking. I learned it mostly from my grandmother, but I lost all my ‘skills’ when I went to university. But I can follow a recipe very well!’

“I also love Megan McKenna’s cooking videos and love mukbangs on social media.”

Danielle offered: ‘I wanted to do MasterChef because I love cooking and learning how to cook different dishes. I’m not a great cook so I’m looking forward to seeing what I’m going to learn!’

Eshaan explains how he started cooking: ‘It all started when I made Christmas dinner in 2014.

‘The first time I cooked was for the whole family – now it’s just three people, compared to the big parties my mother used to throw.

‘It was a success. Since then, my family describes me as a good cook. My friends and family are impressed by my ability to make something out of nothing!’

He revealed, ‘My favourite dish to eat is definitely khichuri – rice and daal cooked together, served with fried eggplant and a beef curry. It’s my go-to comfort food and always touches my soul.’

Eshaan concluded: ‘I love making roasts, especially because it’s nice to time everything perfectly!’

Meanwhile, Harry, who plays Gladiator Nitro, said: ‘I love cooking meaty dishes! Packed with protein to fuel my training sessions. But serve me a sweet treat and I’m all in – a chocolate fondant is my absolute favourite.’

Finally, Rochenda said: ‘When I first walked into the MasterChef kitchen, it was terrifying. It was like watching a TV.

‘It was fun though – and John and Gregg are so welcoming. We were all terrified! We didn’t dare put our aprons on at first in our Heat for some reason. We just stood there like a deer in the headlights!

“But it was brilliant – all the gadgets they have and all the boards you can choose from were amazing. It was a really exciting experience.”

She added: ‘My favourite food is anything Italian, and more specifically, pasta. I love pasta, any kind, any place, anywhere.’

In the upcoming episode, hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace don’t waste any time and set the first task for the candidates: Under The Cloche.

The celebrities take turns choosing a shiny cloche (a dome-shaped lid for food).

Next, using the ingredient hidden in the bell jar, the celebrities must create a dish that will give that ingredient true superstar status.

Later, the five are tasked with preparing two dishes that will amaze even the most demanding guests.

The second round of Celebrity MasterChef starts on August 20 at 8pm on BBC One.
