Celebrity makeup artist reveals how he created Nicole Richie’s beachy makeup look inspired by Jerry Hall at the CFDA Awards
Nicole Richie looked amazing at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards held on October 28 in New York City.
The ‘Simple Life’ star and fashion designer showed off her style-conscious style on the red carpet in a black leather Proenza Schouler dress with a sexy cutout at the back.
Her understated elegant look was completed with a stunning beauty look created by celebrity makeup artist Vincent Oquendo.
Vincent drew inspiration from beach and fashion icon Jerry Hall’s iconic beauty looks from the 1970s, creating a modern take on classic Hollywood glamour.
The artist explains step by step how to get the look.

Before applying makeup, Vincent prepped the star’s skin with Solawave’s Radiant Renewal Skincare Wand, Eye Recovery Pro Mask and LightBoost Activating Serum + Eye Cream.
“For Nicole’s CFDA Awards look, I wanted her skin to look sun-kissed and radiant, almost like a sunset,” says Vincent.
‘Solawave was perfect for prepping my clients’ skin so they look fresh on the red carpet, especially when I use warm, sunset-inspired makeup colors.
‘I started Nicole’s skin prep by applying the Solawave LightBoost Activating Serum, gently massaging in a few drops to hydrate and plump the skin.
‘The serum’s activating properties made the skin extra ready for the galvanic current of the Solawave 4-in-1 Radiant Renewal Wand to smooth and depuff before makeup application.
‘Lastly, I used the Solawave LightBoost Eye Cream and dabbed a small amount around her eyes with my ring finger, followed by the Solawave Eye Recovery Mask. This helped reduce puffiness and brightened the under-eye area.”

To create her makeup look, Vincent used bestsellers from Laura Geller, including Serum Blush Cheek Tint and Baked Blush-n-Brighten, to achieve a perfect, radiant sunset glow.
To start, Quench-n-Tint Hydrating Foundation in shade Medium was applied evenly across her face for a seamless, hydrating base.
He then applied the Ideal Fix Concealer in shades 210 and 250.
210 was used to brighten the under eye corner and shade 250 was applied to any areas that needed extra coverage.
To set the foundation and add a little more coverage, Vincent dusted on Double Take Baked Versatile Powder Foundation in Golden Medium, focusing on the T-zone for a natural, matte finish.

For a sun-kissed look, Serum Blush Cheek Tint in True Tawny was applied to the apples of the cheeks and blended towards the temples.
Finally, a combination of Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Beach Horizon and Summer Orchid across the cheek completed her complexion with a radiant glow.
For the eyes, Vincent started with a swipe of Kajal Longwear Eyeliner in Smokey Amethyst Kohl all over her lid.
He mixed the color with the shade Acacia from the Casual Collection Copper & Khaki Eyeshadow Palette.
The upper lash line was defined with the Kajal Longwear Eyeliner in the color Deep Black.
He extended the eyeliner slightly for a soft winged effect.
For extra definition, INKcredible Waterproof Gel Eyeliner Pen in the shade Blackbird was applied to the waterline.
To complete the look, Vincent applied a touch of Fine Shine Glossy Lip Oil in Rose Garden, which added a hint of pink color and subtle shine, leaving lips looking fresh and hydrated.
