Celebrities turn on LA’s woke mayor Karen Bass for woeful response to worst-ever wildfires devastating city
Outraged celebrities have been eyeing Democratic Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass as deadly wildfires continue to rage through the city’s glitzy suburbs after she slashed the fire department’s budget last year.
Dozens of A-listers have taken to their social media to shame the LA mayor’s response to the infernos that have spread since Tuesday and forced thousands of residents of the Pacific Palisades enclave to evacuate.
However, chaos ensued after the main route in or out of the affluent LA neighborhood quickly became blocked as residents rushed to safety, forcing motorists to abandon their vehicles.
Sarah Michelle Gellar took to Instagram to express her outrage, writing: “In the city of LA you want everyone to evacuate, but there is complete gridlock and there is not a single traffic officer on the road to help.”
The post comes after Bass came under fire for traveling to Ghana as the city was in flames, despite having been given ample warning of ‘critical’ weather conditions in the days before.
Bass flew out to attend the West African country’s presidential inauguration on Tuesday after meteorologists warned a “recipe for fire” was brewing to hit LA.
Meanwhile, other outraged celebrities have criticized the mayor’s actions, with actress Sara Foster writing on X:
“We pay the highest taxes in California. Our fire hydrants were empty. Our vegetation was overgrown and the undergrowth had not been cleared. Our reservoirs were emptied by our governor because tribal leaders wanted to save fish. Our fire department budget was cut by our mayor. But thank God drug addicts get their drug kits. RESIGN. Your far left policies have ruined our state. And also our party.’

Former professional dancer from Dancing with the Stars Valentin Chmerkovskiy also expressed his displeasure on social media.
‘5th largest economy in the world. Firefighters didn’t have enough water pressure to do their job?! Are you kidding me?! The taxes we pay for infrastructure in the developing world are unbelievable?! Come on.
Actor James Woods also criticized the mayor, blaming her and California Governor Gavin Newsom for the fire.
“This fire is not the result of ‘climate change,’ you ignorant bastard. It’s because liberal idiots like you elect liberal idiots like Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass. One doesn’t understand fire management and the other can’t fill the water tanks,” he wrote.
His Tweet came as it emerged that his home had been destroyed by the fires.
Actor Dennis Quaid also spoke out about the mishandling of the LA fires as he talked about returning to his home after having to evacuate.
In an interview today with Fox News, he said, “It’s an inherent problem in California.”
‘[There is] no water in the Palisades… infrastructure has been a big problem here – and where we should spend the money… I have a difference with that.
“The mayor coming back, I’m sure she got on the first plane that came back, but once she got here she had nothing more to say… you have to run around here.”
Flames spread through surrounding suburbs as a storm carried embers and debris in all directions.
The death toll from the apocalyptic infernos has now reached five, as heroic firefighters continue to battle hellish conditions on the front lines of at least five different fires.
Criticism from A-listers comes as Bass was cornered by Sky News journalist David Blevins at the airport on her return today with an assistant, both of whom refused to answer his questions.
Bass immediately indicated that she was not going to answer his questions and turned away.
Blevins then asked her a series of questions to which she did not respond.

“Fire chiefs say they are really pushed to their limits and have run out of water, what do you have to say about that? Don’t you have an answer to that?’
“Do you owe your citizens an apology for being absent while their houses burned?”
“Do you regret cutting millions of dollars from the fire department, Madam Mayor? Have you nothing to say today?’
Bass tried to reduce the LA Fire Department’s budget by about $23 million in 2024, but settled for cuts of $17.6 million.
‘Elon Musk says you are completely incompetent, are you thinking about your position? Do you have nothing at all to say to the citizens affected by this disaster? No excuses for them?’
“Do you think you should have visited Ghana while this was happening at home?”
Blevins then follows Bass out of an airport hallway before demanding she make a statement to the residents of her town. She ignores him again.
Bass then walks out a door and onto the asphalt.
Bass finally returned home Wednesday to inspect the damage with fellow Democrat and California Governor Gavin Newsom
“To the thousands of families affected by this horrific fire, the City of Los Angeles is providing resources and shelter as this emergency continues. To the hundreds of brave firefighters and first responders who responded to this fire all day, we thank you. The city is working aggressively to address this emergency,” she said in a statement.
