Hairstyle how-to: Celeb hairstylist shares every step to creating Jenna Ortega’s ethereal updo
Jenna Ortega goes all out with her fashion collection to promote her film ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.
On Thursday, August 28, the young star appeared at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, looking glamorous and demure.
Jenna wore a red Haute Couture tulle dress, accented with tonal makeup and a gorgeous updo by Bobby Eliot.
While an all-red makeup look is a bold choice for most, the hairstyle Bobby created using Rihanna’s Fenty line is gorgeous for every day and is suitable for all seasons.
The pro, known for creating styles for Amanda Seyfried, Gracie Abrams, Julia Garner and more, shares every step of the process.
Jenna Ortega pulls out all the fashion essentials while promoting her movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”
“Jenna is wearing a custom Dior dress and we wanted her hair to look effortless,” Bobby said.
“We chose to wear her hair in a loose, loose bun.”
Jenna had her hair pulled back and off her shoulders, allowing the intricate heart-shaped bodice of her dress to take center stage.
Just like her Bois de Rose necklace, bracelet and rings in white gold, rose gold and diamonds by Dior Joaillerie.
STEP 1:
Bobby prepped her hair with Fenty Hair The Protective Type 5-In-1 Heat Protectant Styler.
Avoiding the roots, he sprayed the product into Jenna’s hair in sections to protect, moisturize, smooth, detangle and defrizz.
STEP 2:
Bobby then blow-dried her hair with a round brush for maximum shine and volume from the roots.
He then used a flat iron to create texture and give the hair an effortless, modern look.

“Jenna is wearing a custom Dior dress, and we wanted it to feel effortless for her,” Bobby said. “We decided to wear her hair in a loose, deconstructed low bun.”
STEP 3:
As the lead actress in the film, it’s Jenna’s time to shine, which means making sure every hair looks perfect.
To tame the flyaways around her face, Bobby applied product to her hairline.
He used his hands to warm up Fenty Hair The Controlling Type Hair-Thickening Edge Control Gel ($18) and flattened out any pesky hairs.
The restorative gel ensures that the hair stays in shape all day long, is smoothed and stays in place without flaking.
STEP 4:
Formal occasions call for an elegant updo, but hairstyles that look completely imperfect are all the rage right now.
To do this, Bobby grabbed Jenna’s hair and pulled loose strands out of the bun to give her hair a tousled look.
She wore her long layered bangs parted in the middle, framing her face.
To accessorize her Dior Haute Couture red tulle dress, Jenna wore a Bois de Rose necklace, bracelet and rings in white gold, rose gold and diamonds from Dior Joaillerie

STEP 5:
To tame loose pieces and complete the look, Bobby used Fenty Hair The Side Stick 3-In-1 Edge Styling Tool.
The romantic hairstyle contrasts perfectly with the striking makeup look that Melanie Inglessis created with Dior Beauty.
Melanie used red and purple eyeshadow above and below Jenna’s eyes to create a non-traditional smokey eye look.
And a touch of blush on the apples of the cheeks.
A touch of Rouge Dior 999 lipstick completed the passionate ensemble.
