CCTV catches smirking students stealing year’s supply of toilet roll from fellow resident

A student who bulk-bought a year’s worth of toilet paper has revealed how the entire batch was stolen by the other residents of his apartment block.
Sheffield student Tom Pople, who tweets under the username @_poplay, shared that he had been robbed after the huge delivery of toilet paper was placed in the lobby of his accommodation.
The student was taken aback when he didn’t show up at his door and contacted his landlord, who checked the building’s CCTV cameras.
Toilet paper rolls were seen being carried out by a group of smiling students upstairs, after the multi-pack was stolen after a night out.
Their landlord said there was “nothing he could do”, claiming it was Tom’s responsibility to get them back.
The student took to Twitter, writing alongside two angry emojis: “Bought a roll of toilet paper to last me for the rest of the year and some bums upstairs stole it.” They refuse to return them, what should I do?

Responses came in plentiful and swift, with many suggesting that the culprits had committed a crime that should be reported to Yorkshire Police.
One wrote: ‘The people in student accommodation have proof. Go back to them and ask them what they are doing with this robbery. Say you’ll contact the police.
Others said that, at the very least, a written warning should be issued, and many people reacted with more imaginative ways of getting revenge, such as baking a “chocolate cake” and presenting it to the thieves.
Another wrote: ‘As much as I LIVE for the drama, I would contact the owner and ask him to step in. If not, print out the screenshots and decorate the lobby with head-to-toe wallpaper of evidence.
Behavior cr****: Four of the students are seen taking the huge stash of toilet paper rolls
On Twitter, an irate Tom (pictured) told his followers: “I bought a roll of toilet paper to last me for the rest of the year and some bums upstairs stole it.” They refuse to return them, what should I do?
Back in its rightful place: Tom later revealed that he had the scrolls back, minus one
The security team at the student apartment block clarified exactly where the toilet paper rolls had ended up: upstairs.
Enough for all of us! The culprits seemed to smile as they left with the rolls of toilet paper.
Others marveled at how organized the student was, with one commenting, “That’s a lot of toilet paper, did you buy for the rest of the year or the rest of the decade?”
Tom told MailOnline how things played out, saying: ‘It was up to us to save the toilet rolls. I was hoping there had been a police raid on their flat to get it back, maybe the squatting team, but they told me I’d have to go and ask them myself!
Despite calling the culprit’s flat several times to retrieve his goods, he was constantly ignored. After a couple of days, they finally opened the door.
Tom said: “I was hopeful when they finally opened the door, but they flatly refused to return them.” I felt like I was never going to get my precious scrolls.’
The toilet paper rolls were eventually returned to him but one was missing from the package.
That sucks! The cardboard core from the last missing toilet paper roll was used to send a grumpy note to Tom.
Tom was both irritated and amused by his neighbor’s antics.
He said: ‘Overall it was all kind of funny and really stupid, but at the time it was very annoying. I just wanted all my toilet paper rolls!
However, the dispute did not end there. Out of the blue, a note was sent through her mailbox saying, “Best wipe I’ve ever had” and it was scrawled on the cardboard core of the unreturned toilet paper roll.
Tom added: “My housemate saw the note and sent me a picture, I was like ‘Oh my gosh what is this’ but, more importantly, we were still on a roll! It seemed like a situation of held hostage by a stupid roll of toilet paper.
Tom has yet to meet the last roll of toilet paper and wonders if he will ever see it again.
He added that one of the culprits came down later to apologize for the whole ordeal, but says they now have to be careful with their own deliveries.
‘They should be attentive to the toiletries they are given. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any toilet paper deliveries they receive so I can retaliate!
