It comes after MailOnline revealed Celebrity Big Brother will return for a second series as ITV bosses prepare to sign off a sequel.

Following the celebrity episode’s successful comeback, producers are ‘excited’ to recruit a new line-up of talent and aim to bring in even bigger names when the show kicks off again early next year.

With presenters AJ Odudu, 36, and Will Best, 39, at the helm, the entire team is ‘very pleased’ with the popularity of the first celebrity edition, which has proven that interest in the show and its format is still there is.

The civilian version returns this autumn and Celebrity Big Brother will return to our screens in the new year, with bosses looking to make an even bigger impact on the show’s storylines and housemates.

A TV insider told MailOnline: ‘ITV bosses are delighted with the way the first Celebrity Big Brother series was received by audiences.

‘It was incredibly popular with viewers and diehard fans of the show, thanks to its brilliant cast of stars such as Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.

‘Nothing has been formally put into use yet, but everyone is looking forward to going again and the search for the perfect housemates is already underway.’

Celebrity Big Brother attracted its biggest audience in more than a decade when it launched on ITV earlier this month, with 3.8 million viewers across all platforms.

The show has since been streamed more than 14 million times on ITVX and its spin-off program Late & Live was the top performing title for ITV2 every night.

Stars from the series including former X Factor judges Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, Strictly professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin and ex-This Morning presenter Fern Britton contributed to the show’s popularity.

From A-list anecdotes and savage put-downs, tears and tantrums and cutthroat face-to-face eliminations, CBB producers brought the drama and signed the likes of Sharon, who reportedly earned six figures a day to play the ‘celebrity tenant’ of the show, which was definitely paid off.
