Cavinder twins talk about ‘toxic’ eating disorder and turned to Alex Rodriguez’s ex for help

The Cavinder twins, Haley and Hanna, revealed they struggled with an eating disorder.

In a 29-minute candid video posted to their YouTube channel, the sisters talked about their difficult relationship with food and how they suffered from anorexia nervosa.

The basketball-playing twins had decided to share the video on June 2, World Day of Action Against Eating Disorders.

“Something that Hanna and I have struggled with for years … is our eating habits,” Haley said.

Hanna said she started “counting calories” and became sensitive to the things she ate after the two transferred from Fresno State to Miami in April 2022.

“If we’re going to do something, we’re going to do it 100 percent,” Hanna said. “There’s no in-between, so it’s extreme. That’s just how our mind works. And I feel bad because I started counting calories – it was nice of me.

“It started to get very toxic with eating a certain amount of calories a day. But we burn so many calories that we don’t get enough.’

Haley and Hanna described their problems with hormonal imbalances and hair loss and were compared on social media.

They even revealed that they saw it as a competition with one twin trying to go longer without eating than the other.

The pair, two of the highest paid college athletes, sought help.

They turned to MLB icon Alex Rodriguez’s ex-girlfriend, fitness guru Kathryne “Kat” Padgett, who says she has helped people become their “best selves.”

Padgett revealed that the twins were not only enough to fuel themselves to practice their sports, but also for everyday life.

The Cavinder Twins revealed that their goal for 2023 had been to improve their relationship with food, which led them to team up with a nutritionist, Padgett.

Padgett noted that they are “unsustainable”; eating habits where the sisters starved themselves for extended periods of time before eating at other points and working with them to increase their carbohydrate intake.

Both said they hoped their video would help others who were struggling, even deeming one person a “victory” for them.

“We want to help people,” Haley said. “I really want to help people, so feel free to reach out, don’t be afraid to talk to someone.”

The Cavinder twins, who failed to start their fifth year of eligibility to pursue new opportunities outside of college basketball such as NIL and long-term brand partnerships, graduated from the University of Miami earlier in May.

In April, both sisters shared an announcement about their NIL deal with WWE, adding that they look forward to “many long-term deals.”

The two TikTok sensations are estimated to have made seven figures through NIL deals since the NCAA granted college athletes access to sponsorships in 2021.

The Cavinders, who bring their podcast to Jake Paul’s Betr Media, have no qualms about forging partnerships with Victoria’s Secret, Champs Sports and other fitness, fashion, health and lifestyle brands on their books.

‘[Influencing and WWE] could be in the future but I think it’s more of a passive income and we’re super into health and fitness so we’re trying to create a brand with that and then we really want to get into real estate,” Hanna said on the podcast ‘BFFs’ in April.

The twins have a combined 4.5 million followers on TikTok and more than a million on Instagram.
