Jocelyn Wildenstein’s longtime partner Lloyd Klein broke his silence about her death.
The 57-year-old fashion designer spoke about finding the Swiss socialite after she died while taking a nap on New Year’s Eve on Tuesday at the age of 84.
The couple, who had been engaged since 2017, had laid down to take a nap together and expected to ring in the New Year together after a short rest.
However, Klein said he would wake up to find that Wildenstein had died unexpectedly and tragically.
“She died very peacefully in her sleep,” he said People shortly after confirming that Wildenstein, who was nicknamed Catwoman for her extensive plastic surgery to resemble feline features, had died.

“That same night we had a nice happy hour and were getting ready for the New Year, and we took a nap to look good before we got dressed,” he said, recounting the hours before her death.
When asked about her cause of death, he said she had phlebitis, a condition that causes a blood clot to form and block one or more veins, often in the legs. Mayo Clinic.
“Because of her phlebitis, the legs were very swollen, the blood was blocked and there was no oxygen to the brain,” he explained.
“And we were taking a nap and when I woke up I said, ‘Jocelyn, we gotta wake up, we gotta get dressed,’ and she was cold and she was dead.”
He continued: “It’s very sad. It’s extremely sad.’
Klein noted that the condition, which Wildenstein’s grandmother also had, did not affect their holiday celebrations in Paris.
He said her health was “perfect.”
“We were at the Ritz two days ago,” he said. ‘We were eating. That’s why we came for Fashion Week at Chanel. Everything was good, everything was good.’
Of their holiday celebrations up to that point, he said it was “beautiful.”

‘We were at the Ritz. We had parties. She was in great shape. She was in impeccable health,” he told the newspaper.
He said they spent time together in Paris and she was “very happy” and “at the top of her game.”
He also noted that she made a few television appearances during this period and looked “extremely beautiful.”
‘Two months ago she attended the Chanel show. Everyone invited us for dinner. Everyone welcomed her with red carpet. Paparazzi followed us. It was the return to Paris. We were at the top of our game. Everything was at the top.”
The former billionaire and cosmetic surgery enthusiast died of a pulmonary embolism in Paris on Tuesday, as previously reported.
