‘Catwoman’ Jocelyn Wildenstein’s cause of death at 84 revealed

Jocelyn Wildenstein’s former fiancée revealed details about her cause of death in a recent interview.

The fashion designer Lloyd Klein, who was with her in her final moments, attributed her death at the age of 84 on New Year’s Eve to a chronic medical condition.

Klein, 57, claimed Wildenstein’s battle with phlebitis played a role in her death as he spoke with People this week.

“Because of her phlebitis, the legs were very swollen, the blood was blocked and there was no oxygen to the brain,” Klein told the publication.

Phlebitis is a condition in which blood vessels become inflamed, according to WebMD.

The condition can sometimes lead to potentially fatal blood clots.

AFP reported that Wildenstein had died of a pulmonary embolism, in which a blood clot blocks blood flow to the lungs.

The fatal condition is often caused by blood clots in the legs that travel to the lungs, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Klein added that Wildenstein’s grandmother had also suffered from phlebitis, but the condition did not negatively impact their holidays, and he said she was otherwise in “impeccable health.”

Wildenstein, who was dubbed the “Catwoman” for her appearance-altering cosmetic surgeries over the years, died “peacefully” in her sleep, her longtime partner added.

“That same evening we had a nice happy hour and got ready for the New Year, and we took a nap to look good before getting dressed,” Klein recalls.

“We were taking a nap and then I [woke] “When I woke up, I said, ‘Jocelyn, we have to wake up, we have to get dressed,’ and she was cold and she was dead,” he added.

‘It’s very sad. It is extremely sad,” the French designer continued somberly. ‘It is extremely sad to have to lie down and wait with your other half, who I have known for 21 years, to celebrate New Year’s Eve and find her with a cold.’

He recalled that “all was well” in his final days with his fiancée, and he said that Wildenstein, who had spent time with him in Paris, had been “very happy” and “at the top of her game” at the time. .

Wildenstein was last seen healthy on December 18 in Paris with Klein.

The star smiled at onlookers as she wore a fur coat, leggings and boots, while wearing black sunglasses and styling her blonde hair in soft waves over her shoulders.

After her divorce from Alec N. Wildenstein, Jocelyn started dating Klein in 2003.

The two later got engaged, but they have had a bumpy relationship over the years.

In 2016, Wildenstein was arrested for cutting Klein’s face with scissors during a fight in her Trump Tower apartment.

Klein was then arrested days later for theft and assault after allegedly trying to retrieve some of his belongings from Wildenstein’s apartment.

But the pair were later reunited.

The Swiss-born socialite, who had more than 1 million Instagram followers, described himself as an “art dealer.”

She came from modest backgrounds, but married a French-born American billionaire in the 1970s.

But more than twenty years later, the two made headlines with their messy divorce.

She became one of the richest people in the world after her divorce settlement, which left her with more than $2 billion, plus millions more each year.

But somehow she managed to lose it all after years of tinkering with her face and spending on countless luxury items.

The high society figure was married to the late art dealer and billionaire Alec N. Wildenstein, the son of French art dealer and horse breeder Daniel Wildenstein.

Their family controlled Wildenstein & Co., an influential art dealer in Paris.

While you’re talking to The Times of LondonJocelyn described how she became fascinated with Africa and its wildlife after finding a box of picture books about the continent as a child.

She later developed an interest in hunting and wildlife, which led her to the Wildenstein family farm Ol Jogi, located in Kenya.

There she was introduced to Alec on safari by Adnan Khashoggi, a Saudi arms dealer.

Jocelyn remembered how Alec decided to kill a lion that had killed nearby antelopes, so she accompanied him on a pre-dawn mission.

She told how, after her future husband shot the lion with one shot – plus a second for good measure – they ate part of the animal as a kind of trophy and rubbed the blood on their necks.

“You have to eat some of the heart of your game,” she said. ‘It’s a legend. Perhaps to take over the lion’s power.’

But by the ’90s, Jocelyn was completely unrecognizable after her face was reportedly transformed by numerous cosmetic procedures.

They left her with slanted cat eyes, a prominent chin and exaggerated cheekbones, which some compare to the face of a lion.

Despite the obvious change in her appearance, Wildenstein once bizarrely claimed that she had never had plastic surgery.

Alec did comment on her face. He told Vanity Fair: ‘She was crazy. I would always be the last to find out. She thought she could fix her face like a piece of furniture. That’s not how the skin works. But she wouldn’t listen.’

Wildenstein denied that he “hired a publicist and paid a plastic surgeon to confirm that I had completely changed my face” to win the divorce, she stated.

More recently, she has admitted to having undergone a number of procedures, although she downplayed their impact.

In the wake of years of excessive spending and seemingly endless cosmetic procedures, Alec filed for divorce in 1999, although Jocelyn has said that she was the one who first decided to end the marriage due to her husband’s infidelity.

Although he filed for divorce in Switzerland, where Jocelyn was less likely to receive a significant divorce settlement, she ultimately received what should have been a windfall: a reported $2.5 billion.

In addition, her ex-husband would receive her $100 million per year for thirteen years, and later his estate after his death in 2008 at the age of 67.

However, her ex-husband’s family stopped the payments in 2015.

Despite acquiring more wealth than most people could ever imagine, Wildenstein managed to squander it through extravagant purchases of clothing, jewelry, art, and even tens of thousands of dollars in annual telephone bills.

In 2018, she claimed to Page Six that the vast majority of her wealth had disappeared because one of the paintings that were part of the trust set up for her in the divorce settlement, attributed to Diego Velázquez, turned out to be a forgery, while a Cézanne , which was expected to fetch about $35 at auction, only sold for $4.7 million
