The star, who is married to fellow golf fan and actor Michael Douglas, practiced on the course ahead of the match.

The Side Effects star looked in good spirits as she was captured focusing on her target.

Famous actors Andy Garcia, Kathryn Newton and Matthew Goode will team up with professionals as they play across three courses: the Old Course St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.

Popular singer-songwriter Ronan Keating, Tom Chaplin of rock group Keane, Dave Farrell of metal band Linkin Park and Mike Rutherford of Genesis and Mike and the Mechanics will also share the fairways with American cult rock legends Huey Lewis and Tico Torres of Bon Jovi.

This will be Catherine’s first time playing in the competition, although she was an enthusiastic supporter in 2005 when her husband Michael Douglas teamed up with Scottish golfer Colin Montgomerie to play in the team championship.

She shared her excitement at the prospect, saying: “I really enjoyed being at the championship all those years ago and was able to play a round on the practice days.

‘The atmosphere was fantastic and the galleries were great and really encouraged me. It’s a dream come true to now be playing in the Dunhill Links Championship. I’m really looking forward to it.’

It comes after Wednesday star Catherine returned from her lavish summer holiday to Capri last month.

Catherine – who jetted off with her husband Michael Douglas, 78 – took to Instagram last month to give an insight into her sun-soaked holiday.

In one fell swoop, she looked effortlessly stylish in a patterned blue robe with a daring waist-high slit as she relaxed on a yacht.

She threw her dress over a black swimsuit and paired it with a matching headband, adding some glamor with a pair of silver hoop earrings.

In another photo shared with her 5.4 million followers, Catherine put on a busty show in a plunging khaki halter neck swimsuit.

She pouted at the camera as she hid under a huge beige woven sun hat and rocked a pair of black sunglasses.

Catherine enjoyed the lavish sun-soaked Italian getaway with her actor husband Michael , and the couple enjoyed a boat trip to Conca del Sogno , a luxury beach club in the picturesque coastal town of Nerano.

Fatal Attraction star Michael and Catherine, who is 25 years his junior, have been married since 2000.

The couple tied the knot at the Plaza Hotel in New York after starting dating two years earlier, and have become one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples.

In 2001, Catherine told Larry King how their relationship began: “We met in 1996 at the Deauville Film Festival…I think it was 1996!”

‘I was told Michael Douglas wanted to meet me. I was a little nervous because I didn’t know exactly what he wanted to meet me about.”

Douglas promoted A Perfect Murder and Zeta-Jones promoted The Mask of Zorro.

Their friends Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith – who were previously married – proposed to the actors at a private dinner and Michael asked Catherine if he could sit next to her.

He famously told her he was going to be the father of her children, which shocked her, and shortly afterwards he sent flowers to apologize. They started a friendship.

“Nine months later, I’m still having long conversations with him on the phone, having great dinner dates and constantly asking myself, ‘Why aren’t we together?'” she told King.

“One day we looked at each other and said, ‘We’re having a lot of fun together,’” she said.

Michael proposed on New Year’s Eve 1999 at his Aspen home with a $1 million diamond ring.

“We were both so sick because we had the flu,” the actor told ITV’s Ross King in 2016.

Together, Catherine and Michael have son Dylan, 22, and daughter Carys, 20. Michael also has son Cameron Douglas, 43, from his first marriage to Diandra Luker.
