Cate Blanchett has revealed how much effort she went to prepare for her final role in the new critically acclaimed film Tár.

Insiders are tipping the 53-year-old Australian-born Hollywood star could receive her second Best Actress Oscar for the role.

The glamorous blonde beauty plays the title character in the film, Lydia Tár. It follows her rise to become the very first female conductor of a German orchestra.

Blanchett told The Wall Street Journal that she studied German, learned piano and worked with a conductor to make the character convincing.

The prestigious film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September, where it was greeted with a six-minute standing ovation.

The rave reviews have only continued to grow, with many eyeing Blanchett’s performance as the frontrunner for Best Actress at this year’s Academy Awards.

Comparing her preparation to ‘turning records’, in the interview, reprinted in Saturday’s Australianthe acclaimed actress says all her hard work wasn’t to show off her skills.

It was about the character, she says, who is a control freak.

The Lord of the Rings favorite says she wants audiences to “note her homework,” but “fall into the movie.”

“You spin plates, so you think, ‘I’m going to see if I can spin three,'” she says. “And as soon as you think, ‘I have seven plates in the air,’ they all fall down.”

“So you can’t just count plates, and hopefully the public won’t count them either.”

The psychological drama revolves around Blanchett’s stunning portrayal of the fictional character Lydia when the past comes back to haunt her.

The film’s writer and director, Todd Field, has stated that he would not have made the film without Blanchett in the central role.

Blanchett is a fixture on the global award circuit and has received major awards from around the world.

The blonde beauty won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator.

In 2013, the star received an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in the comedy drama Blue Jasmine, directed by Woody Allen.

Blanchett’s other awards include three BAFTAs, three Screen Actors Guild Awards and an Order of Australia.
