But Cate Blanchett has ridiculed the idea of speaking ‘my truth’ by saying, ‘The truth is the truth, isn’t it?’
It comes after US talk show host Oprah Winfrey famously used the phrase in her interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last year when she asked Meghan if she was speaking “your truth.”
But Miss Blanchett, 53, admitted she doesn’t understand the concept, which is now used as a way to express one’s personal opinion or experience.

She said, “There’s an exercise in drama school where you write down everything a character says about themselves and then what every other character says about them.
‘Somewhere in between those often contrapuntal, contradictory things lies a version of the truth.’

Miss Blanchett, who played a TV producer in the 2015 political drama Truth with Robert Redford, stressed the importance of “talking honestly to each other.”
After the interview with Meghan, host Andrew Neil mocked the idea of ’my truth’, saying it was an obsession with itself and that ‘my truth matters more than whatever the actual situation is’.
