Casey DeSantis burst into tears on Thursday as she talked about her struggle with breast cancer and admitted that her three children still don’t know she had the disease.

“About a year and a half ago, I didn’t know if I would see my kids graduate from kindergarten,” the Florida first lady told Fox News of her October 2021 diagnosis.

With husband Ron DeSantis by her side, Casey choked as she described telling her kids β€” Madison, Mason, and Mamie β€” that she hurt her arm because she didn’t want them to know.

“The hardest part for me was having a four-, three- and one-year-old in the house and it’s very, very hard when you look at your kids and they don’t know,” said Casey DeSantis.

Ron DeSantis patted her leg as she struggled to tell what had happened.

β€œTo this day they still don’t know, they have no idea what Mom went through. In fact, I’ve had six rounds of chemotherapy, six weeks of radiation, and three surgeries. I couldn’t use my left arm. I told them, I hurt my arm, because I didn’t want to tell them,” she admitted.

She wiped away tears as she described how Ron was by her side the whole time.

“By the grace of God I am here and this man has helped me more than he will ever realize,” she said.

The Florida governor said the couple appreciated the support they received during her treatment.

β€œWe got a lot of support when we made it public. People prayed for her,” he told Fox News.

After four months of chemotherapy and surgery, Ron announced in January that Casey was cancer-free.
