Casemiro ‘looks like he’s playing in Soccer Aid’, claims Jamie Redknapp after his disappointing display during Man United’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth – as Sky Sports pundit accuses him of ‘walking’ during Cherries’ second goal

Jamie Redknapp has hit out at Casemiro, claiming he looked like a Soccer Aid player after Man United’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

United struggled at the Vitality Stadium, but earned a point thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ brace.

After joining from Real Madrid for £70million in the summer of 2022, Casemiro shone last season but the 32-year-old’s performances have dropped dramatically this time around.

The Brazilian failed to provide much protection to United’s defense against the Cherries and Redknapp took offense to Casemiro’s performance.

“I have been watching him for years and he is one of my favorite midfielders in world football,” he added Air sports.

‘I love watching him play. But right now he looks like he’s in Soccer Aid. He looks like he’s playing at such a pace that the game is a bit of fun and there are celebrities on the field.

‘No. This is the Premier League… you have so much experience. That doesn’t apply to anything other than running.’

Redknapp’s criticism appeared to stem from Justin Kluivert’s second goal for Bournemouth, when the Dutch star isolated young defender Willy Kambwala before firing home emphatically.

The Sky Sports pundit – who played in 2021 Soccer Aid, the world’s biggest celebrity football match – felt Casemiro should have done much more to help his teammate and questioned his attitude.

“Keep an eye on Casemiro,” he added, replaying the goal. ‘Does he now decide to walk? Why are you walking there?

‘Things are happening so quickly and you now realize that players like Rodri and Declan Rice will run if Kambwala now has to face Kluivert in a one-on-one situation?

‘I think I should help my buddy. He is nineteen years old, you have experience and have won Champions Leagues.

‘Just as it continues, he’s still walking and decides, “I’m going to go for a jog.” Now look how close he is when Kluivert shoots. If he had run away, he would have blocked it.’

Redknapp continued: ‘(With) KObbie Mainoo. He has everything in the world at his feet, but you need great role models to reach the top.

‘You need great people who you look up to, who you want to be like. At the moment, Casemiro is not setting a good example for the people around him.

He questioned his attitude and claimed that he was not a good example for Kobbie Mainoo

“Like I said, I’m a huge fan, but that’s not enough because if he had sprinted he would have stopped that.”

The result left United in seventh place, with Erik ten Hag’s side having won just once in their past seven league games.

They are back in action next Sunday with an FA Cup semi-final against Coventry before hosting Sheffield United the following week.
