Casemiro grabs Will Hughes by the THROAT with both hands and is shown a red card after a VAR review during Man United’s clash with Crystal Palace… but his three-match ban will NOT keep him out of the FA final Carabao Cup.

  • Casemiro was sent off during Manchester United’s home game against Crystal Palace
  • It means he will miss three games, including back-to-back games with Leeds.

Casemiro will miss three games of Manchester United’s crucial Premier League campaign after being sent off against Crystal Palace for putting his hands around an opponent’s throat.

The defensive midfielder was dismissed for his performance against Eagles player Will Hughes during a raid on the pitch in the 70th minute of the game, following a VAR check by referee Andre Marriner, who saw the incident on the monitor before sending off Casemiro.

However, the suspension means the Brazilian will return in time for the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United at the end of the month.

Instead, Man United’s next three games include back-to-back games against Leeds United, before a home game against Leicester City sandwiched between their Europa League ties.

As Opta revealed, it was the first time Casemiro had received a straight red card either while playing for his former club Real Madrid or in 30 games in all competitions for the Red Devils.
