Carramar, Perth Facebook Marketplace iPhone ‘attack’

Teenage girls accused of stabbing man in Facebook Marketplace ‘attack after luring him with an offer to buy his iPhone’

Two teenage girls have been charged after allegedly punching a man in the head during a botched Facebook Marketplace robbery.

Police say it happened around 2.30pm on Sunday when the victim, a man in his 40s, arrived at a property on Teasel Way in the northern Perth suburb of Carramar.

He had agreed on Marktplaats with a 13-year-old girl to sell her his iPhone.

Western Australia Police say the girl snatched the man’s phone and left, encountering a 15-year-old girl armed with a knife.

The man chased the pair to nearby Viminea St, where the two girls – now both armed with knives – reportedly swung at the man’s head, causing him a number of cuts, before fleeing the scene, police say.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment, while police arrested the girls at a house in the nearby suburb of Banksia Grove.

They have been charged each with aggravated armed robbery and one with unlawful wounding and are due to appear before Perth Children’s Court on Monday.
