Carrabin crash: Major update after car smashed into a tree killing seven-year-old twins

The driver of a car that crashed into a tree and killed two seven-year-old girls in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region four months ago has been charged.

Emergency services attended the scene of the serious crash on the Great Eastern Highway in Carrabin, between Merredin and Southern Cross, just after 11am on Sunday, February 18.

“Upon arrival on scene it was confirmed that the vehicle was a white Toyota Camry sedan that had left the road and struck a tree,” said a Western Australian Police statement issued at the time.

‘Tragically, two seven-year-old girls died at the scene.

“The driver, a 31-year-old woman, was taken to Merredin Hospital by St John WA.”

On Sunday, WA Police said a 31-year-old woman from Halls Head south of Perth had now been charged with two counts of careless driving causing death, grievous bodily harm or actual bodily harm.

She is due to appear at Northam Magistrates Court on Monday.
