Carolina Panthers’ touching 9/11 tribute destroyed by fans’ morbid comments

A tribute from the Carolina Panthers on September 11 was overshadowed by angry reactions from fans over the team’s performance in Week 1.

Carolina was defeated by division rival New Orleans Saints 47-10 last Sunday.

As a result, some fans decided to leave insensitive comments under the team’s Instagram post honoring the victims of 9/11.

Reactions ranged from direct criticism of the players and owners to harsher measures.

“This team makes me wish I was on those planes,” one Instagram user wrote.

“Saddam Hussein would be a better defensive coordinator,” read another comment.

There were more comments about quarterback Bryce Young. One said, “The planes are more accurate than Bryce.”

Owner David Tepper also did not escape criticism. In one of his responses he said: ‘David Tepper is a bigger threat to this country than Osama Bin Laden.’

The Panthers managed just 193 yards of total offense, while the Saints allowed 379 yards of total offense.
