Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Chandler Zavala was carted off the field with an apparent neck injury in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
Zavala dropped to head-to-head contact with a routine blocking assignment and stayed there for several minutes.
The Panthers’ sideline cleared and the game was stopped as Zavala was stabilized in a neck brace and on a backboard.
As he was carted off the field, he reportedly gave a thumbs up to indicate he was conscious.
The Panthers said he was taken to hospital after the incident and is being treated for a neck injury.

He played his college football at Division-II school Fairmont State University in West Virginia.
When Fairmont State decided to cancel their 2020 football season due to Covid, he transferred to North Carolina State.
There, he earned first-team All-ACC honors for the Wolfpack.
