Carolina Panthers BENCH Bryce Young after just two games of the season – with Andy Dalton to replace him

It is being reported that the Carolina Panthers are benching Bryce Young after just two regular season games.

The Panthers are 0-2 and have been defeated by both the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers, scoring just 13 points and giving up 73.

There’s already one change being made at center, with NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reporting that Andy Dalton will start in Week 3 against the Raiders.

Young had a terrible game against the Chargers on Sunday, throwing for just 84 yards, the fourth-fewest in team history.

After the game, coach Dave Canales was adamant that Young would start in Week 3, but those plans have changed in less than 24 hours.

Dalton last played in the third week of the 2023 season, again replacing Young, but this time due to an ankle injury suffered by the then-rookie.

Young was selected first overall last year and has played in 18 games in his NFL career.

Dalton is now nearing the end of his NFL career and is playing for his fifth team at age 36.

He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2011 and played nine seasons for the team before moving to Dallas.

He started nine games for the Cowboys in the Covid-affected 2020 season before heading to Chicago, where he was named a starter but played in just two games before suffering a knee injury and eventually being replaced by Justin Fields.

In March 2022, he signed with the Saints and became the starter in Week 4 after Jameis Winston was injured. He ultimately made 14 appearances.

Last year he started just one game and played three, but now he gets a chance to earn his starting spot in Carolina.

The Panthers are looking set to be among the worst teams in the NFL again this season after a terrible 2-15 season in 2023.
