Carole Middleton has ‘maternal’ and ‘supportive’ bond with son-in-law Prince William, who looks ‘relaxed’ in her company, says body language expert

The close relationship Prince William shares with Carole Middleton was on display when the pair visited Royal Ascot together today, a body language expert said.

Judi James told it The sun that the 41-year-old Prince of Wales, who looked like a “schoolboy” in his top hat, “appeared to have provoked some motherly-looking body language responses from his mother-in-law.”

She added that the pair’s closeness signaled that they are “a very relaxed and close-knit family unit.”

According to Judi, the way William and Carole, 69, interact shows the ‘support and affection’ they share as a family.

‘It is so clear that the presence of Kate’s mother and father, who have played a very parental role in William’s life, creates a safe place for William to relax and have fun, after all the worries about his wife’s illness . Judi added.

At one point the prince showed his chivalrous side and came to Carole’s aid after a minor accident.

Carole had her own Cinderella moment when her foot slipped from her heel left in the ground, but luckily she had a prince charming on hand.

The pair laughed about the incident as they walked away together and joined other guests.

The Middletons’ outing comes after their daughter Kate, 42, who has been receiving chemotherapy for an unknown form of cancer since February, made a spectacular return to public life during Trooping the Color on Saturday.

Carole and Michael Middleton’s last public appearance was at Kate’s annual Royal Carols: Together at Christmas at Westminster Abbey in London in December.

Three months later, Kate announced her cancer diagnosis to the world.

Carole, who wore a £350 light blue dress from Self-Portrait on today’s outing, has reportedly been supporting her daughter through her cancer treatment at her Windsor home.

Her floral dress was reminiscent of Kate’s £1,275 blue lace Elie Saab creation, which she first wore at Royal Ascot in 2019. The dress also featured a dainty bow and pleated details.

Carole proved to be a queen of coordination and paired her long-sleeved summer dress with a matching light blue fascinator, featuring a statement flower, and a pair of dark blue heels.

With a stylish clutch in hand, she completed her stunning look with a touch of glamorous make-up and a pair of Emily Mortimer Electra Gold Sky and London Blue Topaz earrings.

William seemed delighted that his wife’s parents were enjoying a day out at the races.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said of the Middletons’ return to royal life: ‘They are the unsung heroes of the current period, eschewing the spotlight but undoubtedly making a very important contribution at such a difficult time for the Wales family. ‘

He continued: ‘While we rejoice that Catherine achieved such stunning success in her first official appearance in six months at Trooping the Colour, spare a thought for her parents who have undoubtedly helped her and her family so much during this stressful time.’
