A popular used car seller has already started buying Tesla Cybertrucks for much less than they were worth.

Utah YouTuber Dan Markham borrowed his friend’s Tesla Cybertruck and took it to CarMax to see how much the retailer would buy it for.

The borrowed Cybertruck Markham only has about 3,000 miles on it and costs just over $100,000 from Tesla.

Despite the appraisal offer stating that the truck was in good condition, CarMax would only pay $76,000 for the expensive car.

The Tesla Cybertruck has only been in production since November 2023, and prices initially started between $60,000 and $100,000.

Now the Foundation Series Cybertrucks run close to $120,000.

“I know there are people who want to buy this for $125,000,” Markham said.

According to Markham, the $76,000 price may be due to the fact that Tesla Cybertrucks have not appeared at auctions in Manheim, Utah since their release.

“No one has been brought in to have it appraised, no one has even resold these things because that’s literally not possible,” he said.

Tesla has created a clause for individuals who purchased Cybertrucks, giving the company the right to sue buyers who resell their vehicles.

According to a buyer who purchased a Foundation Series Cybertruck, the clause says owners must return the vehicle to Tesla for a refunded price before attempting to resell the vehicle within a year.

If the clause is violated by the buyer, Tesla has the right to sue him for at least $50,000.

“Tesla may seek injunctive relief to prevent the transfer of ownership of the vehicle, or seek damages from you in the amount of $50,000 or the value received in consideration for the sale or transfer, whichever amount is greater,” it says Company.

“Tesla may also refuse to sell you future vehicles.”

Elon Musk said that more than 200,000 Tesla Cybertrucks were sold within a week of their release.

So far, more than two million people are on the waiting list to buy one of the vehicles.

Buyers have already discovered flaws in their Tesla Cybertrucks after performing a ‘root test’ on their vehicles.

The test showed that the truck doors could cut off fingers.

A Tesla Cybertruck owner also wrote in a review that there were “a few misaligned panels” on the outside near the truck bed and that “the right turn signal controls are a bit glitchy.”
