Carly Simon’s sisters Lucy and Joanna pass away from cancer just one day apart

Carly Simon lost both her sisters, Lucy and Joanna, to cancer earlier this week New York Times.

The 82-year-old sister of the You’re So Vain singer, Lucy, a well-known Broadway composer, died on Thursday, October 20 after a battle with metastatic breast cancer.

The outlet also reported that her oldest sister, Joanna, died of thyroid cancer on Wednesday, October 19 at age 85.

Lucy was nominated for a Tony Award for her work on the musical The Secret Garden. She also performed in a folk group with Carly.

Carly’s sister also won a Grammy for Best Recording for Children for the album In Harmony. Just two years later, she won another Grammy in the same category.

On the other hand, Joanna was an opera singer. She performed in a number of different shows during her time as an opera singer.

After she retired from performing in the early 1990s, she took on a role as an art correspondent for the PBS show MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour.

She won an Emmy Award for a report on bipolar disorder and creativity.

The three sisters also had a brother named Peter, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 71.

Carly Simon is best known for her 1970s hits. Those songs include Anticipation, The Right Thing to Do, Mockingbird, and You’re So Vain.

She has two children: 48-year-old Sally and 45-year-old Ben as well.

Carly will be formally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November, along with Dolly Parton, Eminem, Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie and Eurythmics.
