Jacob Weitering was praised by community members after he came to the aid of an elderly woman.
According to 7NewsIt is believed the lady fell, with Carlton’s vice-captain, who was in his car at the time, springing into action to help the lady.
It is believed she suffered ‘significant lacerations’ after falling on her walker.
The defender, who recently married his partner Isabel Kahan in a surprise ceremony in November, is said to have driven the lady to the Alfred Hospital.
The woman’s grandchild said, “I’m not a Carlton fan, but I am a Jacob Weitering fan.”

Weitering had seen the lady fall on her walker before she helped her and took her to the hospital
‘Jacob happened to be there in his car. He got out and helped her, picked her and her walker up and carried her to his car and took her to Alfred Hospital.
‘My grandmother said he was very calm and friendly.
“Jacob, you are an absolute legend who went above and beyond to help a stranger in need. My family is grateful.”
The 27-year-old enjoyed an excellent season with Carlton, enjoying above-average career figures in the 22 games he played for the Blues.
Weitering was also handed his first All-Australian jacket at the end of the season, with Carlton also signing him to a new six-year contract that would see him remain at the club until the end of 2031.
Seven News presenter Jacqui Felgate also shared a message from a bystander who had been present when the incident unfolded.
“Hello Jacqui, just a quick shout out to some wonderful people in our local Bayside community this morning,” the message reads.
‘I was proud to see the quick action and care shown by everyone when an elderly gentleman suffered a medical episode while we were enjoying our breakfast in the local cafe.

‘Everyone came together to make sure he was okay and provided first aid and care.
‘A young nurse responded immediately, as did a lovely lady, who sat with him until the ambulance arrived.
‘The four young Hawthorn footballers sitting next to him called the ambulance, waited with the gentleman and only left the scene when he was stable and headed to hospital.
“As a mother of two teenage sons and a teacher in our community, I was proud that everyone was so kind and caring.”
One person took to social media to praise Weitering, writing: “Well done Weiters, you are a great role model for all young AFL supporters.”
