Carlton Football president Luke Sayers has accused hackers of infiltrating his social media accounts and sending an sexually explicit image to a female director of one of the club’s major sponsors.

The message targeted the director’s social media account, although the mother-of-two appears not to have used X since 2017 and does not follow Mr Sayers on the platform.
Sources close to the director told Ny Breaking Australia she was distraught over the incident and ‘completely shocked’.
The message remained online for 12 minutes before Mr Sayers spotted the image and hastily deleted it before apologizing to his followers and saying he had been targeted by cybercriminals.
“Sorry, my account has been hacked, please ignore all messages,” the football club chairman wrote.
The married father-of-four’s account, which has more than 7,300 followers, was subsequently deleted, but the message had already been reposted and screened by other X users.

The ‘hack’ attack comes just over a month after Mr Sayers and his wife Cate sold their mansion in Melbourne’s east for more than $16.5 million.

Mr Sayers, who is currently on a ski holiday with his family in Italy where he has a second home on Lake Como, told Melbourne’s Herald Sun newspaper that he was “outraged” by the attack.
‘This is outrageous. “I am investigating and will do everything I can to find out who did this to me and my family,” he said.
The hacking attack comes just over a month after the prominent executive figure and his Cate sold their mansion in Melbourne’s east for more than $16.5 million.
The Sayers bought the seven-bedroom house in Hawthorn East almost 20 years ago for $4.84 million.
Mr Sayers led the Australian division of international consultancy PwC’s for eight years, but left in 2020 to found investment and advisory firm Sayers Group after becoming embroiled in the tax scandal that engulfed the global accounting giant.
Since 2021 he has been chairman of the Carlton Football Club.
