Carlos Rodon’s wife, Ashley, has taken to social media to respond to “pissed off” Yankees fans after her star pitcher husband blew a sarcastic and controversial kiss at fans in a 7-3 loss to the Angels.
Ashley, who tied the knot with New York’s No. 55 in 2018, defended her husband after he made the gesture as he left the field at Angel Stadium on Wednesday. At the time of his departure, the Yankees (50-47) trailed LA (49-48), 4-0.
“The days he’s an asshole, he’ll own it and get ready for the next one,” Ashley said on Twitter, just a day after Rodon’s blow job. ‘Always been. It’s now a battle bus for fans. I know it’s not personal, fans love the team.
“I can drive that. Even if they are assholes when they are pissed about the results. I understand.’
Ashley’s response came after a fan suggested that her Twitter account be permanently deleted or made private.

Rodon’s kiss made the rounds on social media after a subpar showing in which he allowed six earned runs on four hits, five walks, and two home runs over the better part of four innings.
The pitcher’s controversial gesture came when he came off the mound after the end of the second inning. He was taken out of the game for good as the pinstripes trailed 6–0.
“I think it was the best reaction I could give, but I think it’s better not to react,” Rodon said after the game on Wednesday. “Just one of those things, I was frustrated and it was better to blow a kiss or do nothing at all.
“It was just a frustrating outing, that’s for sure. And I showed it there in the second early.”

Manager Aaron Boone, who has been knocked out the most in the AL this season (five times), admitted he wasn’t a fan of the kiss amid his team’s terrible run of late, as the Yankees have now lost nine of their last 11 games.
“I wouldn’t want him to do that,” Boone said. “It’s not the reaction you want and we’ve talked about it. When you’re standing in the arena and going through it, you sometimes do things you don’t necessarily want to be doing.’
Rodon is 0-3 with a 7.36 ERA in his first three starts in a pinstripe jersey, after an injury-hampered start to the season.
The lefty signed a six-year, $162 million contract this offseason after just one year with the San Francisco Giants.
New York is now in last place in the AL East after the latest loss to the Angels and will next play at home against AL Central, the abysmal Kansas City Royals.
