Carlo Ancelotti will take over as Brazil coach for 2024 Copa America in USA

Carlo Ancelotti will take over as Brazil coach for the 2024 Copa America in the US when his contract with Real Madrid expires, Brazil’s FA president confirms

Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, will be Brazil’s coach for the Copa América in the United States next summer.

Brazilian Football Federation president Ednaldo Rodrigues confirmed the news while appointing an interim coach for the next 12 months in Fluminense boss Fernando Diniz.

“His game plan (Diniz) is almost identical to that of the coach who will take over the Copa América, Ancelotti,” said Rodrigues.

“We don’t call him interim coach of the national team. He will make the switch to Ancelotti in Brazil.’

No terms have been announced for the acquisition of Ancelotti, nor has Madrid said anything.

Ancelotti still has one season left on his contract with the Spanish team and the Copa America starts on June 20 in the States.

Meanwhile, Diniz will oversee Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers from September.

“It’s a dream for everyone,” Diniz said in a video posted to Brazilian broadcaster Globo’s website.

“It is an honor and great pride to serve the national team. It was a call, especially the way it happened, in a joint effort between CBF and Fluminense.

“I’m confident we have what it takes to move this forward and make it work.”
