‘It wouldn’t take much to fight Jake Paul’: Carl Froch claims that ‘any retired world champion in decent shape would have no problem playing Jake Paul, saying any fight between the pair would be a ‘mismatch’
Carl Froch has scathingly asserted that any retired world champion boxer “would have no problem playing Jake Paul”, stating that “any retired professional world champion” could beat the American boxer.
The YouTube boxing sensation is finally set to fight Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia on February 26, and if he wins, he could earn himself a spot in the WBC world rankings.
Undefeated in his rise to the pinnacle of exhibition boxing, the 26-year-old has taken down some illustrious names in the world of combat sports, scoring knockouts against Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.
But speaking about whether he would ever face Paul in the ring, former world champion Froch claims that while it wouldn’t take much for him to come out of retirement for the hypothetical fight, the 45-year-old said it would be a “mismatch.”
“It wouldn’t take that much to fight Jake Paul, it wouldn’t take £30m,” the former pro, who has won 33 of his 35 professional bouts, told IFL TV.

The YouTube boxing star will square off in a fight with Tommy Fury at the end of February.
“If a fight with Jake Paul actually happened and he thought to himself, ‘Yeah, I’ll take on Froch,’ which he would never do, because it would be ridiculous.
He may be 45 years old, but any retired professional world champion who is still in good shape would have no problem playing Jake Paul. It would be like a mismatch.
Interestingly, this has not been the first time that Froch, nicknamed The Cobra, has spoken publicly about coming out of retirement, previously stating that the only two fighters he would return to the ring for would be Paul and his older brother Logan.
He previously stated in the William Hill Stripped Podcast that he would ‘crush Paul to pieces’.

But Froch claims that if a retired world champion were to fight Paul, it would be a ‘mismatch’.
But despite joking that it wouldn’t take much to come out of retirement for the fight, the former pro said he wouldn’t have to train much before wrapping up claims he would take the fight.
‘You’d probably have to train a bit, just for the lungs and heart to fill up with a bit of air. Get ready so you can do at least two minutes out of a round,” he continued.
‘You don’t have to worry about going two or three rounds, but you do need to be able to throw at least 10 punches. So, yes, I’ll put myself in the 10-hit state, but it’s not going to happen.
