St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar suffered one of the worst pains a man can experience in their loss to the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.
The Cardinals were beaten 8-0 by Oakland at Busch Stadium, but only after Nootbaar limped out of the game early with the most unfortunate injury.
In the fifth inning of their showdown with the A’s, the 25-year-old attempted to send a substitution over the outfield wall, but his effort went into the ground.
And painfully for Nootbaar, the ball bounced up and crashed right into his manhood, sending him rolling on the floor in pain.
Game announcers initially thought the ball had ricocheted into his shin, before sympathizing with him after replays showed the ball entered directly into his genitals.

He eventually got back to his feet before leaving the game early to get himself checked
Nototbaar eventually got back to his feet and struckout at bat, before leaving the game to get himself checked.
The Cardinals said afterwards that his night ended early “because of a bruise in the lower abdomen.”
To add insult to injury to a miserable night for St. Louis, they also fell to defeat as two runs from Esteury Ruiz inspired the A’s to an 8–0 win on the night.
Zack Gelof, Carlos Perez, Tyler Soderstrom, Brent Rooker, Aledmys Díaz and Jordan Díaz were also present with runs as Oakland recorded its first win of the series.
However, Nutbaar wasn’t the only Cardinals star to limp off injured Wednesday night, with shortstop Tommy Edman also forced out of the game after fouling a pitch on his right leg and developing a collecting knot on his right calf.
St. Louis staff determined that Edman had a bruise to his calf after scans confirmed he had no fracture.
It remains to be seen if Edman and Nootbaar will be available in time for the start of the Cardinals’ four-game series against the New York Mets on Thursday.
