Cardi B’s estranged husband Offset has surprisingly low-key response to divorce filing – despite her revealing he’s the FATHER of her third child

Cardi B’s divorce filing took a new twist this week when her ex-husband Offset came out to respond to it.

It was reported on Thursday that the 31-year-old WAP rapper had filed for divorce from the 32-year-old Migos rapper a day earlier.

But in response to an Instagram post announcing the filing, Offset responded in an unusual way: by liking the post on his public account.

The seemingly nonchalant response was particularly unusual, given that Cardi indicated in her divorce filing that he is the father of her unborn third child, according to TMZ.

In addition to Cardi apparently confirming the child’s paternity (after announcing her pregnancy the same day news of her divorce broke), she has also made her custody preferences known and is reportedly asking for support from her soon-to-be ex-husband.

Offset’s alleged Instagram like was on a post from the account for The neighborhood conversation who announced the news, along with a quote from a source for Page Six.

Shortly after the initial post, the account shared a screenshot showing that Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, had liked the post.

So far, the double-tap on Instagram is all he’s communicating about Cardi’s divorce filing.

However, on Thursday, he did post a video of himself on Instagram Stories in which he can be seen lying in the backseat of a moving car and lip-syncing to an unreleased rap song. In the video, the rapper says he’s “single” and laments that “this tension is old,” according to Page Six.

However, it is unclear whether the song he lip-synced to was one of his own songs.

According to TMZ, Cardi reportedly stated in her divorce documents that Offset is the father of her upcoming baby, as they are reportedly expecting their third child together.

It was previously reported that she wants to gain primary custody of their children: daughter Kulture, five, and son Wave, two.

The publication also notes that the document does not mention a prenuptial agreement, but that does not rule out the possibility that there could be one.

Cardi also asks that all of the couple’s personal assets be divided equally.

She filed for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.

So far, the Instagram double-tap has been the extent of his communication about Cardi’s divorce filing. However, an Instagram Stories video of himself on Thursday showed him lip-syncing to an unreleased track in which the rapper says he’s “single” and laments that “this tension is old.”

The lawsuit was filed after Offset faced rumors of cheating.

On Thursday, during an Instagram Live session, he denied that he “cheated in public” after being seated next to a woman calling herself PrettyRedz at a casino.

‘People really need to do their research… I’m gambling in a public place in a casino with a married, 8-month pregnant woman. [What the f***] I seem to be cheating outside in public [shaking my head!’ he said. 

However, his denial caused more confusion, as his reference to the pregnant woman led viewers to mistakenly thinking he was referring to his pregnant wife Cardi, which her representative denied to TMZ on Wednesday.

Offset was off by a month, as PrettyRedz is reportedly seven months pregnant with a child from her marriage to the late Kyng Rocky, who died on June 18.

Rather than splitting due to cheating, a source claimed to Page Six that Cardi — real name: Belcalis Marlenis Cephus, née Almánzar — and Offset had simply ‘grown apart’ over time, following multiple earlier splits and relationship turmoil. 

‘That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else,’ the source added. ‘This is something she wants to do.’

Despite the split, Cardi looked over the moon in lovely photos of herself caressing her baby bump that she posted on Thursday to announce her pregnancy.

‘With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power!’ she wrote without mentioning or even tagging her estranged husband. 

‘Reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion!’ Cardi continued. ‘I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do! It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!’

In addition to his soon-to-be three children with Cardi, Offset has three older children from previous relationships. 

He shares his 14-year-old son Jordan Cephus with Oriel Jamie, his nine-year-old son Kody Cephus with Justine Watson and his nine-year-old daughter Kalea Mari Cephus with Shya L’amour.
