Hip-hop star Cardi B pushed back against questions about whether she may have been paid by Kamala Harris’ campaign at a campaign rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thursday and endorsed the vice president.
Several celebrities who supported Harris and appeared at campaign events on her behalf came under fire after it was revealed that Oprah Winfey’s production company was paid $1 million for a town hall event in Michigan where she supported Harris.
But Cardi B said the Harris campaign didn’t offer her big checks to attend.
“I didn’t get paid a dollar and that’s out of my three!!” she wrote on social media in response to a question from conservative host Candace Owens.
Other celebrities who supported Harris and attended campaign events included Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Eminem, Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion.
But Cardi B indicated that her choice to be there was authentic.
“I basically came out of pocket for glamor and travel because it’s the place I wanted to be,” she said.
Turning to Owens, Cardi B added, “Here you go girl, you know damn well, I’ll argue politics with you for FREE.”

She awkwardly waited to make her comments for about a minute until she gave up on the prompt and a staffer rushed over with her phone so she could support the vice president.
During her speech, she said she was “not going to vote” before the vice president entered the race against “bully” Trump.
“She is passionate, compassionate … and most of all, she is not delusional,” she said.
Despite last-minute efforts to turn out urban voters in Wisconsin, Trump defeated Harris in the swing state, winning the ten electoral votes.
After Harris lost, Cardi B posted a video telling Harris she was “proud of her” despite the disappointing news
“She changed her mind, I feel like she was very honest, I feel like she said what I wanted here,” she said, praising the vice president for “not playing any damn games.”
“She woke up this nation,” she said.
Cardi B also lashed out at Republicans with an expletive-filled tirade, telling them, “Burn your f*cking royal hats.”
“Get away from me!” she shouted. ‘I’m sad. I’m really sad.’
