Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion fans spot blink-and-you’ll-miss moment in Bongos music video which is a subtle nod to Beyoncé
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion released the music video for their new song on Friday morning, which has already sent Beyoncé fans into a frenzy.
Eagle-eyed viewers were convinced they had spotted a subtle nod to the Crazy In Love singer’s own music video.
Cardi B, 30, – real name Belcalis Cephus – has been teasing the new song Bongos, featuring fellow rap artist Megan Thee Stallion, with promotional material since September 5 cover design on her Instagram.
The WAP duo posed in the poster wearing skimpy monokinis, neon stilettos and multi-coloured pastel wigs as they suggestively licked lollipops.
The music video, which was released on YouTube at 5am BST, has already amassed over 700,000 views – with the pair bringing their A-game by showcasing vibrant visuals, daring outfits and explicit synchronized dance choreography.
However, Beyoncé fans have noticed particular tributes in the footage, highlighting several scenes reminiscent of themes used in the singer’s own previous music videos.

An eagle-eyed fan confirmed the mansion’s location, revealing: ‘This is the Hearst Estate! Literally an iconic location!’
Another elaborated: ‘Yes! This is also where they filmed parts of the Bodyguard!’

Beach Babes: Fans also thought the beach scene from Bongos was similar to the scene in Beyoncé’s 2003 Baby Boy video, featuring dancehall artiste Sean Paul
The former 18-bed home of publisher William Randolph, built in 1927, has a string of high-profile ties – featured in both the films The Godfather and The Bodyguard, as well as Beyoncé and Cardi B’s music videos.
The home was listed in 2020 by The Agency — founded by Mauricio Umansky — the estranged husband of RHOBH cast member Kyle Richards — and is located just three blocks from the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel.
It also has presidential ties: President John F. Kennedy designated the house as his West Coast headquarters during his presidential campaign, and he even honeymooned there with his wife Jacqueline.
Other fans on X were also quick to point out how Bongos drew inspiration from another popular Beyoncé music video.
People felt that the beach scene from Bongos, in which Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion dance on a stage in floating chiffon jumpsuits, is similar to the scene in Beyoncé’s 2003 Baby Boy video, featuring dancehall artist Sean Paul.
One person wrote: ‘The ocean platform part was a baby boy music video.’
Another fan, who posted a GIF of Beyoncé’s flowing turquoise dress from the 1990s hit, said: “The dance scenes on the beach look like this in Baby Boy ft Sean Paul.”
