Carcoar car crash: Driver killed in horror outback smash as ute towing trailer hits truck and horse float

A driver has died after a horrific crash between a pickup truck and a truck that left both vehicles off the road.

Emergency services received reports of a two-vehicle crash on the Mid-Western Highway at Carcoar, southwest of Bathurst in NSW, at around 1.25pm on Monday.

A man in his 60s was found dead at the scene of the crash. He was driving the ute with a trailer behind it.

The driver of a Pantech truck, which was pulling a horse-drawn carriage, was not injured in the accident. Two passengers, a boy and a girl, suffered minor injuries.

The Mid-Western Highway has been closed to heavy traffic between Mandurama and Blayney while police investigate the collision.

Light vehicles are still allowed, but drivers are urged to allow extra travel time due to diversions and hazardous road conditions.

The police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage about the accident is asked to contact police.
