Man is killed in freak caravan accident as cops investigate how the bizarre tragedy happened
A man was killed when he was hit by an object that flew from a passing caravan as two teenagers in the back seat watched in horror.
The Canberra man, 49, was driving along Burley Griffin Way at Galong N.S.W Heuveltops region on Sunday evening when there is an item of a caravan traveling in the opposite direction was driven away.
The unknown object smashed through the windshield and hit the man in the head.
The man died before emergency services arrived on the scene.
A woman, 48, and two girls, 16 and 13, traveling in the same vehicle were not injured but were taken to Canberra Hospital in shock.
The man, 32, who was towing the caravan was not injured.

He was transported to Harden Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit spent time examining the scene
The police investigation into the incident continues.

Hilltops Mayor Brian Ingram urged motorists to use caution on Burley Griffin Way over the festive period.
“Any time of year is busy, but this time in particular the volume of traffic is increasing,” he told ABC.
“This accident is extremely sad.”
