Deniz Undav bagged his first goal for Brighton to help the in-form Premier League side defeat Forest Green Rovers 2-0 and avoid an upset at the New Lawn Stadium.
The fixture saw Forest Green boss Ian Burchnall come up against Graham Potter for the first time since they managed rivals Leeds University and Leeds Metropolitan University earlier in their careers.
Potter made eleven changes for the tie and handed full debuts to three players, including Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill. Undav (right), making his first start, set Brighton on their way in the 38th minute after playing a neat one-two with 17-year-old Evan Ferguson.

Then Steven Alzate scored his first goal for the club since last February with a 20-yard strike in first-half stoppage time.
Ferguson rounded off a perfect night for Brighton, converting Cam Peupion’s pull-back with just two minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, academy graduate Dylan Kadji also scored on his debut to help Bristol City to a 3-1 victory over Wycombe wanderers at Adams Park.
It took the 18-year-old midfielder just seven minutes to open his Robins account, turning in from close range after Kai Naismith’s corner.
Wycombe hit back almost immediately after the break through Ali Al-Hamadi — the Iraq international rising highest to plant Anis Mehmeti’s cross in for his first goal for the Chairboys.
But Bristol wing back Kane Wilson restored the lead on 74 minutes. Wilson, playing just his second game for the club, met Naismith’s cross before Antoine Semenyo rounded off the scoring for the Robins in the dying minutes.
