A pair of Milwaukee car thieves vandalized a vehicle during a TV interview about a local shooting before the driver fled the scene, leaving his injured friend behind.

The accident was captured on camera by police on Sunday around 7 p.m TMJ4 television crew interviewing residents about the fatal shootings of 15-year-old Monroe Weso and Alejandro Sanchez.

A gray sedan crashed into a parked minivan, causing significant damage as debris flew everywhere.

The driver of the stolen vehicle sprinted away while the 16-year-old passenger crawled out injured and was tended to by a woman who witnessed the crash.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, while the driver escaped after stealing a second car. The police are still looking for him. A 57-year-old man was in the van at the time of the crash and was also treated for his injuries.

The television crew was wrapping up an interview about a fatal shooting when the gray sedan drove by and crashed into the parked minivan.

Footage shows the driver getting out and running away while his injured friend remains injured on the ground.

Two women then went to help the injured passenger and pulled him from the wreckage of the car.

He was subsequently arrested by Milwaukee police and treated at a hospital for his injuries.

But the driver is still on the run and authorities say he escaped in a recently stolen car.

Gray McEachern, who witnessed the crash, said: ‘You could see the first child, the driver, he got out and ran away. I’ve never seen anything like it.

‘That car could have killed someone. He ran onto the grass, there were children on the grass.”

Reacting to the horror crash, Mayor Cavalier Johnson said: “The passenger in that video you just showed me couldn’t even stand up, he couldn’t even move.

‘He tried to get out of the car and collapsed. You don’t want this to be your child, or a child you care about. Let’s have these conversations and put an end to this.”

Police are still looking for the driver of the car and are calling on anyone with information to contact them.

It comes after teenage boys Monroe Weso and Alejandro Sanchez were shot and killed in Milwaukee on May 19.

Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with their deaths and are looking for two other suspects.

The families of the victims have taken a stand GoFundMe pages to help raise money for funeral expenses.
