A car enthusiast has urged potential car buyers to avoid purchasing five types of sedans ‘at all costs’.
The veteran reviewer, known online only as Bev, explained in a recent survey why he believes these particular sedans aren’t as car-tastic as other vehicles. video.
“I wouldn’t recommend these Sedans to my worst enemy,” Bev said.
Four of the five vehicles Bev claimed were terrible were compact or midsize, but he also discussed the alleged problems with one luxury sedan.
More than 500,000 social media users watched the video, and despite the controversial comments, Bev was clear about which sedans he thought were the worst to own.
Bev, an experienced service writer, explained in a video why he believes five sedans is not satisfactory
Kia Optima
Bev claimed that insurance companies are not interested in covering Kia Optimas
The Kia Optima, now known as the Kia K5, was the first sedan Bev trashed in his Oct. 18 TikTok, and he said insurance issues and the engine were to blame.
According to the TikToker, insurance companies don’t want to cover the cars because they are “easily stolen.” He also opined that the cars’ engines were ‘absolutely terrible’.
Bev may not have been far off regarding frequent Kia Optima thefts since lawyers revealed Kia vehicles have been stolen at ‘alarmingly high rates’ since 2021, according to SFGoes.
Kia Optimas were also targeted in the Kia Boys TikTok challenge, with thieves using USB cables to steal the vehicles.
However, the 2024 Kia K5 received mostly positive reviews from drivers Edmundsand more than one driver wrote that they love the engine power.
Chevrolet Cruze
Bev claimed that Chevy Cruze vehicles were a “money pit” and not worth buying
When Bev finished criticizing the Kia Optima, he claimed that the Chevy Cruze was a “money pit” sedan that wasn’t worth buying.
The main issue Bev raised was timing chains: an engine part that helps a vehicle’s engine move and produce power.
Bev claimed that timing chains can encounter problems around 100,000 miles.
The Chevy Cruze stopped production in 2020, but could be improved upon when the company releases a redesigned version in 2025.
Mitsubishi Mirage G4
Bev claimed that the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 was the least expensive vehicle on the market
The discontinued vehicles could potentially be cheaper than the Mitsubishi Mirage G4, which Bev claimed “G sucks.”
The TikToker said it was the least expensive vehicle on the market and claimed it had low horsepower.
He also claimed the vehicles are “not reliable” and have interiors “made of Lego.”
Bev’s claims were similar to those of expert reviewers Kelley Blue Bookwhich criticized its ‘poor performance’ and ‘low-rent interior’ with a rating of 3.1 out of five stars.
Alfa Romeo Giulia
The Alfa Romeo Giulia was the only luxury sedan that Bev ditched in his TikTok video
Bev also slammed the Alfa Romeo Giulia, which he said was ‘terrible’.
According to the automotive expert, the turbo inline 4s in these sedans are terrible, and his friend Evan claimed it was the worst vehicle he’s ever owned.
The only luxury sedan Bev destroys in his video is described as a ‘timeless beauty at the service of your emotions’ on the Alfa Romeo Giulia website.
Car owners on Edmunds also have opposing views on the engine, with experts claiming that one of the benefits of a 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia is the ‘strong turbo engine.’
Chrysler200
Bev traveled back to another mid-size vehicle that is no longer in production: the Chrysler 200.
The TikToker called it “the younger, dumber brother of the 300” and claimed it couldn’t get anything right.
Several drivers claimed this vehicle is more reliable than Bev said, but vehicles have had transmission, engine and electrical problems in the past.
More than 900 TikTok users have discussed their alleged vehicle experiences in recent days, with several commenters claiming Bev’s opinion was wrong.
Several commenters called their Kia Optimas reliable cars, and one person claimed they just keep their car where no one can steal it.
Others insisted Bev was wrong about the Alfa Romeo Giulia.
“Alphas are not unreliable, their quality scores are increasing and the engines are super reliable with proper maintenance,” one TikTok user wrote.
At least three commenters agreed with Bev about the Chevy Cruz, with one person claiming there were “so many problems” with their vehicle.
