The mother of a nine-week-old baby boy who died suddenly under mysterious circumstances has written a heartbreaking tribute to her son as new details emerge about the tragedy.
Kiarnie Rodgers, 20, shared a poignant photo of a memorial she set up in her home in honor of her son, as well as a poem she wrote for him as she prepared for her son’s funeral.
Baby River was found dead on August 11 at a property on Larbonya Crescent in Capalaba, south-east Brisbane.
Emergency services have reportedly been to the same address before and River has previously been treated in hospital for a skull fracture.
Queensland police have launched an investigation and are treating the boy’s “sudden death” as suspicious.
River’s maternal grandfather, Cameron Faulkner, has now spoken out against the trolls who passed judgment on his grandson’s death.
He said his grandson was staying with his father at the time of the tragedy and had previously suffered a fractured skull after his older brother pulled him from his father’s arms.
“My daughter is an amazing mother and it pains me to see people who don’t know the whole story taking pleasure in writing about things they know nothing about,” he said in a social media post after the tragedy.
