Can’t Decide Which iPhone 16 Color to Pre-Order? These Are the Most Popular Shades, According to You
It’s iPhone 16 pre-order day and that usually means one thing: way too much thinking about which color to pick this year. With Apple introducing deeper hues on the base iPhone 16 models and a new Desert Titanium shade for the Pro, the decision can be a tough one. So we ran a poll to help you decide.
On the other side Ny Breaking WhatsApp Channel (which we recommend you follow if you haven’t already), hundreds of you have already announced which color you’ll be buying today. Pre-orders begin at 5am PDT / 8am ET / 1pm GMT in the Apple Store (in other words, right away).
As you can see below, there’s a clear winner for the iPhone 16, but the votes for the iPhone 16 Pro are much more divided. We think the results reflect a lot of the online conversation we’ve seen about the most popular hues for Apple’s new phones, but they could also be a useful guide to which colors you should soon avoid altogether.
Of course, the colour of your iPhone 16 or 16 Pro may not matter as much when it comes to the case you choose, but if you’re buying a clear protector, these are the shades most Ny Breaking readers will be pre-ordering today…
Row 0 – Cell 0 | US starting price | UK starting price |
iPhone 16 | €799 | €799 |
iPhone 16 Plus | €899 | €899 |
iPhone 16 Pro | $999 | €999 |
iPhone 16 Pro Max | €1199 | €1199 |
iPhone 16 Winner: Ultramarine
There’s a clear winner in our results (below) for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, with a whopping 49% of you saying you’ll be pre-ordering Apple’s base phones in Ultramarine.
That’s understandable – it’s the one that also caught our eye in our iPhone 16 hands-on review . The color is technically a blend of blue, but don’t let Apple hear you calling it blue.
What’s even more surprising about these results, given how Apple has refreshed the iPhone 16’s palette with brighter colors, is that the second-most popular color is black (at 29% of the vote). But again, black is a classic, understated choice that’s more in line with the neutral tones of the Pro and Pro Max.
In third place with a surprisingly low 11% of the vote is the rather pretty shade of Teal, while White (6% of the vote) and Pink (4%) battled it out for last place. Pink is a real opinion splitter, but those who choose it can also rest assured that they will be in select company.
iPhone 16 Pro Winner: Black
It wasn’t much of a difference, and considering the iPhone 16 Pro’s colors are much more subdued (or some might say underwhelming), that’s not much of a surprise.
But the overall winner was Black Titanium, which received exactly 50% of the votes. This is the color we played with in our iPhone 16 Pro hands-on review, where we noted that “the Black Titanium body felt just as solid and smooth as before.”
In a close second place was the new Desert Titanium, which received 32% of the vote. The new shade has caused some debate online, with many debating whether it’s more gold or copper – we think it’s definitely more of the former, making it a successor of sorts to Rose Gold.
Surprisingly, Natural Titanium (which we now consider the “standard” color for the iPhone Pro) only received 10% of the votes, while White Titanium came in last place, with 8% of readers saying they would pre-order the phone today.
