Candice Warner has claimed Mitchell Johnson’s opinion doesn’t have ‘much value’ as cricket star David’s wife hit back at the former fast bowler’s criticism of the struggling batsman.
Candice – who shares three children with the Australian test opener – has launched a passionate defense of her husband amid questions about his future on the team amid torrid form.
When asked by Fox Sports about Warner’s performance, Candice said, “I get it (he’s struggling), but if Dave doesn’t perform in that first test, who do they bring in that’s better?”
Her comments failed to satisfy Johnson – who played alongside Warner for four years – and he claimed Candice’s defense was “weird and creepy” in his column for The Western Australian.
“We’ve all appreciated Warner’s great career as an opener and what he’s accomplished. But that’s not the point. His form hasn’t been up to scratch for a while,” he said.

Now Candice has dismissed Johnson’s comments, claiming the former fast bowler is irrelevant.
“I’m not surprised because he doesn’t deal with media much anymore and I feel like the only way he’s going to get a headline is to use David’s name,” she shared. News Corp.

She added that she will leave for England after the first Test of the five-match series, as she did before the school holidays.

“Last time we were there I gave birth to Isla (our youngest daughter) and she’s celebrating her fourth birthday in England,” said Candice.
“I can’t take too much time off from my work commitments, but for any parent, juggling is real.
“David takes it game by game and as a family we support him and believe in him.”
