  • David Warner will not feature in the Test series against India
  • Recently offered to return sparked a media frenzy

Candice Warner has addressed the speculation surrounding her husband’s return to the Australian Test team, stating that it ‘isn’t happening’ because he

It follows that David Warner boldly claims he would face India if necessary in the five-Test series, which starts in Perth next month.

But the bomb’s development was news to his wife, as the former Ironwoman champion said The back page viewers on Fox Sports that Warner’s sense of humor was more than likely on full display.

‘I just got him home more often and I think: what difference does it make? What’s going on now?’ she told the panel.

“He’s very passionate about playing for Australia and I think if George Bailey, the selector, or Andrew McDonald, the coach, picked up the phone and said ‘we need you’ he would jump at it.

Perhaps sensing Warner was purely looking for news, the likes of skipper Pat Cummins and former opening partner Chris Rogers laughed off any talk of a return.

Warner, 38, will instead focus on this summer’s Big Bash with the Sydney Thunder, where he is tipped to be captain.

It follows his lifetime leadership ban from Cricket Australia recently being lifted.

An independent panel concluded that Warner showed “sufficient remorse” for his involvement in the murder sandpaper scandal of 2018 — and he’s now free to run the Thunder and in the running for future coaching roles.

“I think it’s very appropriate that it be lifted. He is at peace with the ban being lifted,” Candice said.

‘Now it’s about moving forward. He’ll be playing for the Sydney Thunder for the next two years, so he’s looking forward to that.

‘He is [also] captaining teams all over the world… whether it’s in Dubai or India and Canada and all these other places.

‘So he has leadership qualities. I’m sure if he were tapped on the shoulder and asked, ‘Do you want to be captain of the Thunder?’ he would love it.”
