Cancer-stricken King Charles is seen smiling as he heads to church in Sandringham – a week after surprise Easter Sunday walk that delighted well-wishers

King Charles is pictured heading to a Sunday morning church service at Sandringham as he continues his recovery from cancer.

The 75-year-old monarch appeared in good spirits as he smiled in the backseat of a car as it drove past onlookers.

The king balances his time between the Sandringham estate in Norfolk and his Clarence House residence in London.

It comes a week after he greeted well-wishers at an Easter Sunday service in Windsor, which was his first major public appearance since his cancer diagnosis.

The King’s recent upbeat appearances will provide great reassurance to the public after the monarch took a step back from his official duties following the announcement of the diagnosis on February 6.

King Charles and Queen Camilla shook hands with dozens of people queuing outside St George’s Chapel in Windsor last weekend.

The King was cheered by the crowd last Sunday as he left St George’s Chapel to shouts of ‘Happy Easter’.

One man told him to “keep going strong,” while others said he “looked good” and seemed “in good spirits.”

“We’re all rooting for you, we’re all behind you,” said one member of the audience.

Another man said, “Keep going strong, Your Majesty. Keep going strong, never give up.”

The king jokingly replied, “I must follow my instructions.”

The king has continued some work since his diagnosis, but all engagements have been done privately.
