Canberra: Woman, 30, charged after she allegedly tried to run her ex-boyfriend over twice with her car near a suburban pool

A young mother has been charged after allegedly trying to run over her ex-partner twice in broad daylight in front of her children.

Police believe the 30-year-old woman and her two children met the man near the Dickson Aquatic Centre in Canberra around 12pm on Monday.

The pair had a conversation on the street before the woman got into her car and drove towards her ex-partner.

After narrowly missing him, the woman allegedly reversed and drove into him again, hitting him in the hand and ribs.

She reportedly fled the scene with her children before emergency services arrived.

Police arrived at the scene and questioned the injured man and other witnesses.

Officers then went to a home in O’Connor on the city’s north side, where the woman was arrested

She was charged with aggravated assault with intent to cause bodily harm, serious property damage and traffic violations.

She is due to appear in the Australian Capital Territory District Court later on Tuesday.

ACT Police are urging anyone experiencing domestic violence to call the police.
