Canadian man Michael Nixon, 54, and wife, Anurak, 47, are brutally stabbed to death with a 12-inch knife in a ‘parking dispute’ outside their Thailand home after neighbor grew furious their guests were blocking the front of his house

  • According to family members, the couple regularly argued with the suspect over parking spaces

A Canadian man and his Thai wife were brutally stabbed to death by their neighbor 'over a parking dispute' in Thailand.

Michael Nixon, 54, from Canada, and partner Anurak, 47, had just finished entertaining friends at their home in Khon Kaen province when they were confronted by Kachornsak Panyadee, 36, on December 14 around 9 p.m.

Kachornsak, who was reportedly fed up with the couple's visitors blocking the front of his home, waited for the guests to go home before marching to the next door, armed with a 12-inch knife.

When Anurak opened the door for him, he reportedly plunged the knife into her stomach before attacking Michael, who rushed over to help his screaming wife.

Police Lt. Col. Chaiwanich Khamlamool said police received a report about the stabbing at 9 p.m. They rushed to the crime scene, where Kachornsak was waiting to surrender.

Michael had two stab wounds in the chest and another in his torso, while Anurak was stabbed in the abdomen

The couple was found dead at the entrance of their one-story home. Michael had two stab wounds in the chest and another in his torso, while Anurak was stabbed in the abdomen.

Police detained Kachornsak, collected evidence and informed Anurak's daughter Parichat Longsokchueak, 18, about the incident.

Speaking to police, the teenager said: 'I don't live with my parents, but I know my mother often argued with the neighbor about the parking space.

'The perpetrator may have been dissatisfied with my family for blocking the parking lot. My mother also tends to talk loudly, so that could also be a reason for his actions.'

Police Colonel Preecha Kengsarikij, deputy commander of the Khon Kaen provincial police, said investigations revealed that Kachornsak, a crepe seller at a local market, had often bickered with the couple over the parking space.

The officer said, “On the day of the incident, many foreign friends came to visit the deceased's house. As the suspect passed by after returning home from work, he said he heard Michael's voice inside the house saying, “f*** you, f*** you.”

“He believed he was being insulted, so he went home to drink away his anger. But when the visitors left, he grabbed a knife and attacked his neighbors.

“He said he committed the murders while he was boiling with rage. He has admitted killing them and will now face legal proceedings.”

Pirachai Puttasen, a village official who knew the deceased, said they planned to move to another house in Pattaya on December 20.

Authorities said Kachornsak has been charged with murder after admitting to stabbing the man and woman. He was detained in the police station pending prosecution.
