Can you recognise these sports stars in their Halloween costumes? Tennis hero turns into freaky clown, ex-England star becomes a vampire and who’s the Man United legend in the mask?

Halloween: the perfect time to send broken children away from your door because you have ‘nothing left’, before plopping a box of chocolates on the sofa.

It’s also the ideal day to try your luck with a fateful knock on a stranger’s door, hoping he’ll have mercy on your sweet tooth.

But what if your neighbor opened the door with one of the following looks? Would you dare to stammer the obligatory three-word salutation, or would you run a mile?

Sports stars are once again showing off their costumes and designs on social media. We’ve been treated to a tennis clown, a football-playing vampire, a striker with a double-edged axe, a boxer like Mike Myers and Freddy Krueger, a golfer like King Kong and a Manchester United star like Spiderman.

Can you guess who they are?

Exhibit A:

There’s no point in guessing that this is Andy Murray, because – in the costumes mentioned – the former British No. 1 is the most recognizable.

The three-time Grand Slam winner retired from tennis after the Paris Olympics, where he reached the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles with Dan Evans.

Murray was denied what should have been his Wimbledon swan song after Emma Raducanu withdrew from the mixed doubles injured, but not before he had his Center Court final in the men’s doubles with brother Jamie.

“I hope you all enjoy Halloween as much as I do,” the Scot wrote on Instagram as he showed off his polka dot clown costume and oversized trousers.

“I’ve never seen you as beautiful as you are tonight,” one fan wrote.

Exhibit B:

This one might be hard to guess unless you were already familiar with his tapestry of tattoos.

Above is none other than David Beckham, his face obscured by an ‘Old Man Mask’.

The Inter Miami co-owner looked beyond unrecognizable in his attire, a world away from his usually hyper-polished appearance.

“I really love bingo nights,” Manchester United legend Beckham wrote on Instagram, tagging his family.

Exhibit C:

A bit more of a niche choice here, with the star in question dressing up as Grace Jones’ vampire character named Katrina from the 1986 film ‘Vamp’.

Alex Scott is the mystery lady and she has a proud history in Halloween costumes, having also made it onto Mail Sport’s creepy outfit compilation last year as a clown – one scarier than Andy Murray.

The 140-time England international and BBC pundit has already collected more than 50,000 likes on her post showing off her costume.

However, despite her impressive dedication to the outfit, points have to be awarded for the fact that she posted the images on Wednesday night.

Exhibit D:

If you can’t get this and you claim to be a football fan, there isn’t much hope for you.

If the ‘Erling’ logo, Norwegian flag, ‘Hallandween’ sign and plain face weren’t enough to give away, the above is Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

You’ll also notice that one sign on the left reads “future father,” a nod to the fact that he and girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen are expecting their first child.

Haaland even sparked a thumb-sucking celebration when he scored twice for Norway against Slovenia earlier this month to announce the impending arrival of his offspring.

Mail Sport costume review: Unfortunately, Haaland has not yet chosen to make this AI mock-up a reality.

Exhibit E:

Not one, but two costumes – this guy goes to the extreme.

And that could happen in the ring, if he ever manages to fight KSI again.

We are of course talking about Tommy Fury, the former Love Island star and a boxer with an undefeated record.

Fury Jr has recorded ten fight wins and one draw. His last fight took place in October last year when he scored a unanimous victory over YouTuber KSI.

Fair play to the 25-year-old, who is reportedly lining up to enter the Celebrity Big Brother House: he really is unrecognizable here.

Mail Sport Suit Rating: 7.5/10.

Exhibit F:

We’ve fooled you on this occasion, because you’re not even sure who to look at!

However, they could be huge clues if you’re familiar with the family of golfer Luke Donald, who would be virtually unthinkable alone in the gorilla suit.

The former world number one, 46, is one of the few golfers to achieve sustained glory both individually and as a team.

Last year he led Team Europe to victory in the Ryder Cup and that came after a remarkable individual career, with five PGA Tour victories and seven European Tour wins, although he has never claimed a major.

However, the winner for best costume of the night might just be the adorable dog, aka Archie the labradoodle.

Mail Sport costume rating: 7/10.

Dog costume rating: 10/10.

Exhibit G:

At this stage there is no point in even trying to guess. You win everything if you get this one.

The Spiderman costume features Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

It is unclear how much of his £350,000 weekly wages went to the team, although United could do with a superhero at the moment.

The Brazilian star relaxes for the evening with his wife Anna Mariana and their two children, Sara and Enzo, and wanted to wish his fans a ‘Happy Halloween’ on social media.
