A strange quest to identify a celebrity whose face was included in a 2008 fabric design has spanned years and left thousands of netizens baffled.
Brad Pitt, Princess Stephanie of Monaco, Rebecca Romijn are all contenders to be the so-called ‘celebrity no 6′.
This is the name given to the mysterious star that appeared on the fabric that no one can identify.
The Internet mystery began five years ago, when Reddit user TontsaHfrom Finland, posted a photo of a piece of fabric purchased in 2008 featuring celebrities who were popular at the time.
Seven of the eight celebrities in the pattern have since been identified – but no one can agree on who number six is.
Now, nearly 9,000 have joined a subreddit dedicated to solving the mystery – with sleuths going as far as contacting the designer and going to their local library to flip through old gossip magazines to track down the celebrity.

Hundreds of names, male and female, have been submitted, but no one seems to be able to match the exact picture to the celebrity.
Swedish-French model Filippa Hamilton has even claimed it’s her – but internet sleuths still aren’t convinced.
Brad Pitt is one of the main contenders – however some claim the ‘ear shape’ and ‘hair parting’ are wrong for the Fight Club star.
Other proposed names include River Phoenix, Evangeline Lilly, Heath Ledger, Nicolette Sheridan, Jodie Foster and Travis Fimmel.
Some people have even suggested as mysterious faces like Queen Letizia of Spain and Kristen Stewart. While some are convinced that her Desperate Housewives co-star Nicolette Sheridan.
The fabric itself – called “Figure” – was made by the Finnish company Anttila, which has since gone bankrupt.
A further mystery was added to the sagas when sleuths found the designer.
He said he doesn’t remember who the celebrity is, but said he used Hello! magazine to find pictures of stars.
Amazingly, he claimed to have used a 2015 issue of the magazine to make the fabric, despite many people claiming to have brought the fabric up for sale seven years earlier in 2008.

It’s unlikely that the photos came from a 2015 magazine, like Hello! tends to publish recent photos and the photos on the canvas ranged from 1999-2007.

Other famous faces on the canvas include Lost star Josh Holloway, actress Jessica Alba, Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima (who appears twice) as well as actors Travis Fimmel and Orlando Bloom.
Others on Reddit, who are also from Finland, have said they believe they have the fabric as well.
Some said they believe they’ve seen the original photo – but don’t remember who it is.
‘Hello. I have seen the original of this photo. I don’t remember who she is and what color shirt she has. But I remember she has some sort of VIP or backstage pass around her neck. The thick dark line around her ‘neck’ is the pass belt,’ one Reddit user wrote.
‘I’m sure it’s her. And about the hair. I remember her as a dark blonde.
“I remember the original photo, but I don’t know the model or brand name to look it up.”
Despite the efforts of nearly 10,000 Reddit users, the identity of Celebrity Number Six remains a mystery.
About 65 percent of the subreddit believes the celebrity is a woman — while 35 percent think he’s a man.
One user even conducted a week-long investigation searching the entire Getty catalog 1998-2007 in hopes of finding the photo.
His guesses included Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Hilary Duff, Olivia Wilde, Kristen Bell, Kate Hudson and Angelina Jolie.
But no one can decide who ultimately resembles the mystery character more.
