Can you tell where this is? Man is left shocked after Reddit users decipher his late father’s location in 1950s photograph within hours of him posting it

A man has shared his shock after Reddit users were able to guess the location of his late father from an old black and white photo.

The London user shared a photo of his father – who died 30 years ago – on Reddit.

The person estimated that the photo was taken in London sometime in the late 1950s or early 1960s.

However, they were stumped as to the exact location of the fracture and may not have been able to locate it precisely.

But within minutes, someone managed to pinpoint the exact location and share a photo of what it looked like today.

Users noticed both the National Gallery and Nelson’s Column in the background and correctly noted that the photo was taken in Pall Mall, just off Trafalgar Square in central London.

“Can anyone help figure out where this was taken?” wrote the user, who goes by the name Shifty Howe.

‘I don’t have much to think about other than it was London, after my father was discharged from national service, which was some time after the Suez Canal crisis…

“So I’m guessing the photo is from the late 1950s, early 1960s.”

Although the original poster couldn’t figure out where it had been taken, others were quick to point to a large monument that gave away an important clue.
