Camryn Manheim leaves Law & Order after three season run on flagship series
Camryn Manheim leaves Law & authority after three seasons as part of the main cast of the long-running series.
The actress joined the flagship as Lieutenant Kate Dixon when the show was revived by NBC for season 21 in 2021.
Her character served to replace the character Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson), who left after season 20.
“I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons that helped us relaunch Law & Order,” creator Dick Wolf said in a statement to Variety. “She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter.”
Manheim will officially say goodbye to her character and the show when she appears in her 48th and final episode, which will air as the season finale on NBC on May 16.

Manheim (born Debra Frances Manheim) has had a long-standing relationship with the show dating back to a guest role on the first season in 1991.
She would return for more guest roles, playing several characters on the series in both 1993 and 1994.
All three of her appearances on Law & Order marked her first three roles in her television career.
In addition to her leading role in the flagship, Manheim can also be seen as Kate Dixon in a recurring role on Law & Order: Organized Crime and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since 2022.
The native of West Caldwell, New Jersey, first gained recognition as an actress with her off-Broadway one-woman show Wake Up, I’m Fat (1994).
Many fans know Manheim from her portrayals of Ellenor Frutt in the legal drama series The Practice (1997-2004) and Delia Banks in the supernatural series Ghost Whisperer (2006-2010) and as Control in the science fiction crime drama Person Of Interest (2013-2015). )
Manheim’s departure from the series comes just a few months after Sam Waterston stepped down after appearing in 405 episodes as District Attorney Jack McCoy.
His final appearance came earlier in season 23 in an episode that aired on February 22.

Tony Goldwyn was appointed as his replacement as the new Manhattan District Attorney Nicholas Baxter, alongside other current cast members such as Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi, Mehcad Brooks and Reid Scott.
Waterston first joined the cast of the flagship series for season five in 1994 and remained with the show through its first finale in 2010, then rejoined when the series was revived for season 21 in 2022 .
Set in New York City, Law & Order took a two-part approach to each episode, with the first half hour focusing on the investigation of a crime and the apprehension of a suspect by detectives, while the second half focused on the prosecution of the suspect by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
