Dozens of passengers have been injured after two buses collided.

The terrifying incident happened on Seventh Avenue in Campsie, south-west Sydney, at 4.20pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services arrived on the scene to treat the people who were on the buses at the time of the crash.

Six passengers were taken to hospital by ambulance crews after sustaining injuries.

Seven others were waiting to be transported by emergency services.

The total number of people treated is not yet known.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area as emergency services are currently clearing the scene.
